Angel Babies Matter Network Partners with Quilt Guild to Create 400 Mini Baby Quilts
Community Service Project led by the National African American Quilt Guild
Houston, TX
In Spring of 2024, Angel Babies Matter Network was honored to collaborate with the National African American Quilt Guild in a heartfelt initiative led by veteran quilter Stephanie Moss, a dedicated member of the National African American Quilt Guild (NAAQG). This partnership brought together a remarkable group of over 50 talented quilters from across the United States, all committed to making a difference in the lives of mothers and families coping with pregnancy and infant loss.
The initiative began in January with a Zoom meeting between the quilters and our Founder and CEO, Danielle Houston. The quilters, led by the Guild’s President and Founder, Rhonda Masters, Vice-President LaForrest Lane Washington, and Founders Sharon Mooney and Laura Casmore, pledged to create 400 handmade mini baby quilts to be included in our care packages. These care packages, provided to mothers via hospitals and healthcare facilities, offer comfort and support during some of the most challenging times in their lives.
Stephanie Moss set the project in motion by creating a standard template with instructions for the quilts, while still allowing each quilter the freedom to add their personal touch and creativity. The response was nothing short of extraordinary. Quilts began arriving from all corners of the country, each one a unique work of art, crafted with love and care. As the quilts were received by Angel Babies Matter Network, it was clear that the skill and dedication of these quilters were truly impeccable.
Danielle Houston expressed her deep gratitude, saying, “Quilts being mailed from all over the US was overwhelmingly delightful. I am truly grateful for the time, resources, and love these ladies poured into this project.” The outpouring of support from the quilting community was a testament to the power of collective action and the impact that can be made when people come together for a common cause.
