Angel Babies Matter Network Supports Black Maternal Health at Second Annual Community Panel
In honor of Black Maternal Health Week (April 11–17), Angel Babies Matter Network (ABMN) was proud to participate as an exhibitor at the Second Annual Black Maternal Health Panel, hosted by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® Rho Omicron Omega Chapter (Baytown) and Chi Omicron Omega Chapter (Katy). The event took place on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the HCC Hayes Campus in Alief.
The panel brought together community organizations, health professionals, and advocates to raise awareness about the alarming disparities and systemic challenges faced by Black mothers. The event served as a vital platform to educate, equip, and empower attendees with resources related to maternal health, mental wellness, and grief support.
As an exhibitor, ABMN provided information about our services for mothers who have experienced pregnancy and infant loss, as well as mental health resources available through our care packages and healing circles. We were honored to be among the trusted voices bringing attention to the intersection of Black maternal health and pregnancy loss awareness.
The invitation to participate reflected the long-standing commitment of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® to social justice, equity, and health advocacy:
“We stand in the gap to empower our communities and act in the best interests of all people through social advocacy and justice… This panel would be incomplete without your voice and knowledge.”
The collaboration between Rho Omicron Omega and Chi Omicron Omega chapters began in 2023 with the launch of a community-centered Black Maternal Health PSA. Building on that success, this year’s panel extended the conversation to more families, service providers, and local leaders.
Angel Babies Matter Network extends our deepest thanks to Kymberly Etheredge, Melody Perez, and the entire planning team for the invitation and for creating space for important dialogue and healing. We look forward to continued collaboration to protect and uplift the voices of Black mothers in Harris County and beyond.
🖤💗 Black Maternal Health is a community issue—and together, we’re changing the narrative.
