Angel Babies Matter Network Founder Danielle Houston Honored with Community Health Advocate Award at INSPIRE Brunch and Angel Awards Ceremony

Houston, TX

On July 21st, 2024, Angel Babies Matter Network Founder and CEO, Danielle Houston, was honored with the Community Health Advocate Award at the Annual INSPIRE Brunch and Angel Awards ceremony. The event, held at the Hyatt Regency Intercontinental in Houston, Texas, celebrated leaders who have made significant contributions to their communities, particularly in the realm of maternal and mental health.

The awards ceremony was a highlight of Black Maternal Mental Health Week, a week dedicated to raising awareness and providing support for Black maternal mental health. The event was organized by Shades of Blue, a nonprofit founded by Kay Matthews, who established the organization after the stillborn death of her daughter. Through Shades of Blue, Kay Matthews aims to provide essential community support, resources, and awareness around the often-overlooked issue of Black maternal mental health.

The theme of the luncheon, Art of Motherhood, resonated deeply with the attendees, as it celebrated the strength, resilience, and creativity inherent in motherhood. The event featured several award categories, including the Innovative Community Leader Award, Community Health Advocate Award, and Youth Empowerment Champion Award. Danielle Houston’s recognition as a Community Health Advocate reflects her tireless efforts to support and empower mothers and families coping with pregnancy and infant loss through her work with Angel Babies Matter Network.

The awards luncheon was more than just a ceremony; it was a celebration of community and creativity. After the awards were presented, including trophies and gifts to nonprofit and community leaders, attendees had the unique opportunity to engage in a creative expression activity. Guided by instructors from “Kolor My Canvas” LLC, each attendee was able to paint their own canvas, creating a personal piece of art that symbolized the theme of motherhood.

Danielle Houston’s recognition at this event underscores her commitment to advocating for maternal mental health and her role as a leader in the community. Through Angel Babies Matter Network, she continues to provide crucial support to families experiencing the pain of pregnancy and infant loss, offering grief support, advocacy, and fostering community partnerships.

The INSPIRE Brunch and Angel Awards was not only a moment of recognition but also a powerful reminder of the impact that dedicated community leaders can have on the lives of others. Danielle Houston’s work, along with the work of other honorees, highlights the importance of advocacy, creativity, and community support in addressing critical health issues.
